A: The Windmill shown here was designed as a windelectric
generator. It had a "few" problems such as the fact that
the asyncronous induction motor dimmed the lights in the
neighborhood when it came on line and it lacked of good yaw control.
However, this may have been the first time ScotchPly (a 3M product)
was ever used in the fabrication of windmill blades and the owner
wanted to show this concept and offer plans to other enthusiats.
This windmill is still pretty much as shown although
these photos are over 20 years old.
